2010 Commonwealth Games

The former Crockenhill Primary School pupil Grace Clements came and shared her experiences of India anf the Commonwealth Games with the Beaver Scouts this week.
For those who don't yet know, Grace competed in the heptathlon at this year's Commonwealth Games in India, and won the Bronze Medal !
The Commonwealth Games has been running in one form or another since 1930, and this year's event in India was the nineteenth. The Twentieth event, in 2014, will be held at Glasgow.
The heptathlon has seven events: 100m hurdles, 200m & 800m races, high jump, javelin throw, long jump and the shot put.
One of the many fascinating facts shared by Grace about being a heptathlon competitor is that the athletes have a different pair of shoes for each of the seven events.
